Summary

Joe is done with the cities。 He’s done with the muck and the posers, done with Love。 Now, he’s saying hello to nature, to simple pleasures on a cozy island in the Pacific Northwest。 For the first time in a long time, he can just breathe。

He gets a job at the local library—he does know a thing or two about books—and that’s where he meets her: Mary Kay DiMarco。 Librarian。 Joe won’t meddle, he will not obsess。 He’ll win her the old-fashioned way。。。 by providing a shoulder to cry on, a helping hand。 Over time, they’ll both heal their wounds and begin their happily ever after in this sleepy town。

The trouble is。。。 Mary Kay already has a life。 She’s a mother。 She’s a friend。 She’s。。。 busy。

True love can only triumph if both people are willing to make room for the real thing。 Joe cleared his decks。 He’s ready。 And hopefully, with his encouragement and undying support, Mary Kay will do the right thing and make room for him。

I went into this book with so much trepidation。 YOU is one of my favorite books of all time and when I learned there was going to be a second book, I waited impatiently for the day I would hold it in my hands。 And then I finally got my copy of Hidden Bodies and then。。。it was the worst book I had read in that year。 Talk about disappointed! I was so upset and distraught about the direction the author took with that book。 I didn't recognize the Joe I met in the first one。 This one seemed so different to me。 So, when I saw You Love Me at the bookstore, I picked it up, then put it right down again。 I didn't want to spend the money on a book I was worried I may hate as much as the second book。 In fact, it was my intention to never read another one of these books again。 But I bit the bullet and decided to give it a go but only one the condition that I would check the book out at the library。 I still was refusing to spend any money on this。I just finished this book not even 5 minutes ago and all I can say is, he's baaack! Joe from the first installment of YOU。 The Joe I recognize from his good, ole days of stalking Beck。 Not his lost days of hanging out with Love (hated that whole thing with her-hence my hatred for Hidden Bodies) This had everything I loved about following Joe around in New York during those early days。 I'm so excited to say that this book did not let me down。 I liked this book less than the first one。 I think it's safe to say, no book in this series is going to be able to top that one for me。 But I really did enjoy this book and loved being in Joe's head again。 Ah, Joe Goldberg, you sick, twisted, obsessive, psycho。。。。God, how I love you! 。。。more

I really wanted to love this book。 I was so excited for it to come out and preordered it as soon as I had heard! I won’t cover the plot because that’s a given, but I just felt like Joe had too much on his plate this time stalking after an older woman with a teenage daughter。 I hated that he constantly called the daughter Meerkat and said RIP before names like Beck and Candace, etc。 I never thought I would find Joe annoying, I’ve always loved his dramatics and found it hilarious。 This time it was I really wanted to love this book。 I was so excited for it to come out and preordered it as soon as I had heard! I loved the first 2 books as well as the show, but this one was just all over the place and just felt like internal ranting the entire time。 I’m sad to only give this 3 stars。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 。。。more

The worst book of the “You” serious and the worst book I read in 2021。 There were so many repetitive phrases in this book that made my blood boil, such as fecal-eyed, Meerkat, rat, putting RIP in front of every damn dead character in the book (as if the readers forgot these people were gone) and the list goes on。。。。It was a struggle to read this one and I couldn’t wait for it to be over。

I've admitted to loving a good trashy book before, and the You series tends to fit the bill。 Caroline Kepnes' latest journey into Joe Goldberg's inner monologue is。。。 fine。 The characters channel characters from the previous two novels to a degree that makes the third installment a bit boring。 Still a quick read and entertaining enough。 Readers who enjoyed the other two books will still like what the third book has to offer, but it's the weakest of the trilogy。 Also, really hated the cover desig I've admitted to loving a good trashy book before, and the You series tends to fit the bill。 Caroline Kepnes' latest journey into Joe Goldberg's inner monologue is。。。 fine。 The characters channel characters from the previous two novels to a degree that makes the third installment a bit boring。 Still a quick read and entertaining enough。 Readers who enjoyed the other two books will still like what the third book has to offer, but it's the weakest of the trilogy。 Also, really hated the cover design。 。。。more

I have to say this is the best book in the series, Imo。 Joe finally becomes a somewhat decent human being。 (Although let's be real。 We do love somewhat psychotic, stalker Joe, too, or else we wouldn't be reading the series)。 Seriously though, this book was unexpected, in a good way。 We see a softer side of Joe, but his darkness still lurks underneath。 There were several moments that made my heart race and some huge WFF moments, as well。 I will say I'm not 100 percent thrilled with how the book e I have to say this is the best book in the series, Imo。 Joe finally becomes a somewhat decent human being。 (Although let's be real。 We do love somewhat psychotic, stalker Joe, too, or else we wouldn't be reading the series)。 Seriously though, this book was unexpected, in a good way。 We see a softer side of Joe, but his darkness still lurks underneath。 There were several moments that made my heart race and some huge WFF moments, as well。 I will say I'm not 100 percent thrilled with how the book ended。 Caroline Kepnes did leave it open for another sequel although not in a cliffhanger sort of way。 I do hope there are more books because I, personally, can't get enough of Joe。 。。。more

This was hard for me to rate。 The story itself was good and engaging。 I love Joe's steam of consciousness storytelling。 But, I kept waiting for what makes Joe。。you know, Joe。 And waiting, and waiting, and waiting。 If there is a fourth book I hope he gets back to his old self。 This was hard for me to rate。 The story itself was good and engaging。 I love Joe's steam of consciousness storytelling。 But, I kept waiting for what makes Joe。。you know, Joe。 And waiting, and waiting, and waiting。 If there is a fourth book I hope he gets back to his old self。 。。。more

I enjoyed this, as I enjoy the narration of Joe so much。 It was a decent story line, that was left open ended for a possible fourth book(and more seasons on Netflix)- I found the first book, and even the second to be so hard to put down, I just didn’t stop reading them, I thought this would be similar but it didn’t quite have that same can’t put it down feeling to it。 Over all it was a good read, excited to see the Netflix adaptation。

This was really disappointing。 The first two books were addicting。 This one was just annoying。 Compared to the others, the plot was very stagnant and Joe's ramblings were very repetitive and annoying。 It seems as though the ending leaves the story open for a follow-up novel。 I'll have to pass。 This was really disappointing。 The first two books were addicting。 This one was just annoying。 Compared to the others, the plot was very stagnant and Joe's ramblings were very repetitive and annoying。 It seems as though the ending leaves the story open for a follow-up novel。 I'll have to pass。 。。。more

I was so excited to read Joe's story。 I absolutely loved the first book even though Joe is super creepy and over the top。 The second book wasn't as good but I still liked the book。 But this one。。。ugh。 It dragged on and on。 It was so predictable and boring and so disappointing。 It did get a little interesting in chapter 40 through the end but not enough to save it and make it better than meh。 It definitely ended with an opening to continue Joe's story but honestly I don't know if I'm even interes I was so excited to read Joe's story。 I absolutely loved the first book even though Joe is super creepy and over the top。 The second book wasn't as good but I still liked the book。 But this one。。。ugh。 It dragged on and on。 It was so predictable and boring and so disappointing。 It did get a little interesting in chapter 40 through the end but not enough to save it and make it better than meh。 It definitely ended with an opening to continue Joe's story but honestly I don't know if I'm even interested in it。 。。。more

Not really sure how I feel about this book。 The first 2/3 were interesting but I was waiting for it to be over by the last 1/3。 I feel like this was just written for the tv series to continue on。 Joe got 3 cats though so that’s pretty cool

Jackie

I appreciated that this one had some different themes from past books。

3。5/5 I enjoy the story of Joe。 I love his sarcastic tone his evil thoughts and the way he weaves in and out of women's lives。 It's creepy and weird but the way that Caroline Kepnes writes his character is captivating。 An enjoyable ride。This 3rd book in the You series is just as enjoyable as the other two books。 It's light and an easy read。 Thank you to Random House and @netgalley for my advanced copy。 3。5/5 I enjoy the story of Joe。 I love his sarcastic tone his evil thoughts and the way he weaves in and out of women's lives。 It's creepy and weird but the way that Caroline Kepnes writes his character is captivating。 An enjoyable ride。This 3rd book in the You series is just as enjoyable as the other two books。 It's light and an easy read。 Thank you to Random House and @netgalley for my advanced copy。 。。。more

I don’t know what it says about me that I find this series delightful! I had really missed Joe, and this book did not disappoint。 Gripped immediately from the first chapter by his arrogant, paranoid, obsessive, but usually correct and always honest (or are they?), thoughts。

I liked the first two books better but thats how it is for me when it comes to book series'。 So usually, I dont read them。 I wont ever quit on Joe, though。 And I am still hoping for a 4th book。 After this one, seriously。。。。the guy deserves a win。 I liked the first two books better but thats how it is for me when it comes to book series'。 So usually, I dont read them。 I wont ever quit on Joe, though。 And I am still hoping for a 4th book。 After this one, seriously。。。。the guy deserves a win。 。。。more

This might sound a little crazy of me but there wasn't enough murder in this book unlike You #1 & #2。 I also didn't like Joe's love interest in this book either。 She did not have the same appeal as Love Quinn or Beck。 Joe's inner monologue is still as hilarious as ever though which is what kept me listening。 This might sound a little crazy of me but there wasn't enough murder in this book unlike You #1 & #2。 I also didn't like Joe's love interest in this book either。 She did not have the same appeal as Love Quinn or Beck。 Joe's inner monologue is still as hilarious as ever though which is what kept me listening。 。。。more

Loved it for the most part。 It is MUCH better than Hidden Bodies, but You deserved 15 out of 5 stars, and this one isn't quite as good as that。 Maybe 4。5/4。8 so I'm just rounding up。Joe is basically back on his bullsh!t again, although with plausible deniability regarding the dead bodies all over Bainbridge Island。 He's haunted by all the RIPs in his past as well as a goon sent by RIP Love's family, but what is most important is that Joe has found real, true love, and an amazing family。 Except i Loved it for the most part。 It is MUCH better than Hidden Bodies, but You deserved 15 out of 5 stars, and this one isn't quite as good as that。 Maybe 4。5/4。8 so I'm just rounding up。Joe is basically back on his bullsh!t again, although with plausible deniability regarding the dead bodies all over Bainbridge Island。 He's haunted by all the RIPs in his past as well as a goon sent by RIP Love's family, but what is most important is that Joe has found real, true love, and an amazing family。 Except it's Joe, and the universe is unfair, and things keep going right and then going wrong, and really, he DIDN'T EVEN KILL THAT PERSON。 The universe just laughs。I liked the book but didn't love it for much of the first part。 Joe is basically happy and in love, and no one wants to read about a happy Joe。 But then things start going wrong, and it's perhaps even better because nothing is Joe's fault, things just keep happening to him。 The happy parts were slow though, and the book was headed for four stars until。。。 Holy smokes, Kepnes throws a curveball in there and we realize that almost nothing we'd been reading was as it seemed。When I am truly surprised I have to give credit。 This surprise was so delicious, so perverse, and so unfair to Joe that even though there were slow spots, I have to give this one credit。 Five stars, and it ends with Joe back on his bullsh!t so we know there's another book in our future。Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the ARC, even though a new job prevented me from reviewing before publication date。 If you're a fan of You, you definitely need to get a copy of You Love Me。 。。。more

Best book in the series so far。 Fight me。You Love Me is the third installment in Caroline Kepnes' thrilling You series。 Firstly, I must share brief thoughts on the first two books。You: There wasn't anything I didn't like。 The second-person narrative was so chilling, and it perfectly set the tone for the series。Hidden Bodies: Oh dear。 This book took everything I liked about the first book and shat all over it。After the mess that was Hidden Bodies, You Love Me was an insanely impressive redemption Best book in the series so far。 Fight me。You Love Me is the third installment in Caroline Kepnes' thrilling You series。 Firstly, I must share brief thoughts on the first two books。You: There wasn't anything I didn't like。 The second-person narrative was so chilling, and it perfectly set the tone for the series。Hidden Bodies: Oh dear。 This book took everything I liked about the first book and shat all over it。After the mess that was Hidden Bodies, You Love Me was an insanely impressive redemption for the series。 It took everything that I loved about the first book and dramatically improved on it, and it took everything that I hated about the second book and redeemed it。We see a changed Joe Goldberg in this book。 Yes, he's psychotic and delusional, as he always has been, but there are certain ways in which he has improved。 Basically, Joe is better in this book than the first two, as he used to be a psychotic mess whose only intention was to get Beck to love him, but he now has more responsibilities, and more of an awareness about the consequences of killing someone。 That's character development right there。You Love Me also brought back something from the first book that the second book missed out: it had absolute arseholes, who I wanted to die as soon as I read their first spoken line。 Kepnes has been able to develop her characters so well throughout this series, to the point where the reader is capable of forming a first impression of them as though we had met them in person。 That's impressive as hell。When it comes to Hidden Bodies, I've made it very clear that I didn't like that book。 However, the third book tied into the second in a way which I did not expect, and wrapped up an (in my opinion) unfinished book in a satisfying way。 So not only am I leaving You Love Me with a new favourite book, but also a feeling of satisfaction, knowing that Hidden Bodies was finally finished。 Because the second book felt so unbelievably separate from the first, I was expecting the third installment to feel more like that, but I was very pleasantly surprised。 This is very much a sequel to Hidden Bodies, which I felt needed a little more time in the oven。The only problem I had with this book was that it was too short。 I'm also very curious as to how this book is going to be adapted into season 3 of the show。 。。。more

Love, love, love!!! Joe is BACK! I love this new take on him。 This new environment, his new take on life and love。 But it’s Joe, so he’s always going to have dark twists and turns。 This left me wanting more, as this series always does, so I’m thrilled that Caroline Kepnes has already been working on #4。

What a big, fat letdown! I'm a big fan of Kepnes's other books。 Even Providence, which was extremely different from Joe Goldberg's story, was really well written, interesting, and very good with inner thoughts。 Kepnes is excellent at the inner monologue。In theory, the idea of another You book wasn't so bad。 I think the way Hidden Bodies ended was really fun and surprising and set up Joe and Love to be a super wild murder couple together。So, when this book opens with the fact that Joe and Love ar What a big, fat letdown! I'm a big fan of Kepnes's other books。 Even Providence, which was extremely different from Joe Goldberg's story, was really well written, interesting, and very good with inner thoughts。 Kepnes is excellent at the inner monologue。In theory, the idea of another You book wasn't so bad。 I think the way Hidden Bodies ended was really fun and surprising and set up Joe and Love to be a super wild murder couple together。So, when this book opens with the fact that Joe and Love are no longer together, the Quinns paid Joe off to stay away from their son, and he already has a new obsession it was。。。jarring。 I didn't expect another notch in Joe's creepy stalker bedpost, so to speak。 It's clear to anyone who has read even just the first book that Joe has a pattern of doing this with women。 Hidden Bodies plays with this expectation of the repeating pattern by instead turning it on its head, leaving Joe playing catchup for some time。 So, when this book decided to just be another link in a chain of Joe's exploits, I didn't understand what made Kepnes write it at all (other than that sweet sweet Netflix season 3 paycheck, of course)。 Most egregious here, as I already mentioned, is the sidelining of Love's character as well as everything to do with Forty, Joe's son, named after Love's late brother。 She and Forty are still very much an influence in the story, as Joe stalks their lives through Love's Instagram, but are largely clipped out of the fabric of Joe's life。 (view spoiler)[I also thought the way Kepnes killed her off was rushed, came out of nowhere, and was honestly a little insulting to the Love we met in the last book。 (hide spoiler)]Honestly, this book is basically just You all over again, just with another girl, another city, and the same lack of consequences。 I never really expected Joe to be able to learn or grow, but I did expect this third book to, at the very least, be different。The only reason I rated this a 3 instead of a 2 is because, despite the content of the book being annoyingly repetitive, it's still Kepnes writing Joe Goldberg。 I can understand her desire to stick to writing this character because she is very damn good at it, even when she's doing the same damn thing all over again。But honestly, this was my biggest fear going into this book。 Even though I still liked You and Hidden Bodies better than Providence, I enjoyed that, even though Kepnes's third effort was as different from her first two as it was, it was still of very high quality。 I wanted her fourth book to be something fresh and different。 The TV show is already different enough that it didn't need any more material to adapt (and it looks like, since Victoria Pedretti is credited in all the episodes of season 3, they are already taking a different direction with it) so why did we need a third Joe Goldberg book? Why couldn't Kepnes have taken that time to write something completely new?Anyway, I don't know if I can call this book bad, but it was tiresome and frustrating。 I see here on Goodreads that Kepnes is looking at writing a fourth book and honestly, unless you really plan to do something radically different and maybe even bring forth a reckoning for everybody's favorite stalker, then please don't bother。 Just move forward。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This was probably my least favorite of the series, mostly due to the ending, but also because there were way too many deaths in this one that were never investigated or questioned, which seemed pretty improbable (especially Melanda— just because of a few texts no one ever goes looking for her? Didn’t she have family or other friends wondering where she was?)。 It was still a fun, funny read, but took too much suspension of disbelief。 Also almost everyone in here was so unlikable!

HOLY CRAP。This was a wild ride, and not always in a good way (mostly in a good way though)。 I love being inside Joe's insane mind, so even when the plot isn't as good as the first book, I'm enjoying the story。 My biggest problem was the fact that, for absolutely no apparent reason, Love's personality takes a 180。 The story starts and we get this casual update of, "By the way, between the end of Hidden Bodies and now, Love changed all her personality traits so we've got a new story in a new locat HOLY CRAP。This was a wild ride, and not always in a good way (mostly in a good way though)。 I love being inside Joe's insane mind, so even when the plot isn't as good as the first book, I'm enjoying the story。 My biggest problem was the fact that, for absolutely no apparent reason, Love's personality takes a 180。 The story starts and we get this casual update of, "By the way, between the end of Hidden Bodies and now, Love changed all her personality traits so we've got a new story in a new location with a whole new set of problems!" This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I love Caroline Kepnes’ writing style, it is unique and the audible narrator is phenomenal。 But。。。do we like the new Joe, the “nice” former serial killer, who in this book continually pronounces how nice he is and he doesn’t kill people now?
